A new initiative in Portland aims to solicit feedback from the community in the hope that it will help stem the tide of violence the city has seen over the last two years.

The “Portland Peace Initiative” plans to host a series of listening sessions, designed to reach every corner of the community, to solicit feedback on ways residents and police can more effectively combat violence, according to Lisa Broderick, founder of Police2Peace, which advocates for community policing and will be leading the effort.
